Business Instructor
Position Summary:
The Business Introductory Course Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction that provides students with an early introduction to the fundamental concepts, principles, and career pathways of business. This position serves to orient students to their field of study, build foundational disciplinary knowledge, and help students understand the relevance of their studies to contemporary professional practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Delivery
- Teach introductory business courses such as Introduction to Business Concepts, Principles of Management, or Business in a Global Context.
- Deliver engaging instruction using case studies, industry examples, and real-world problems to contextualize learning.
- Guide students in understanding the scope of business, current industry trends, and potential career pathways.
Curriculum & Planning
- Participate in curriculum development and continuous program improvement.
- Develop engaging lesson plans aligned with course objectives, discipline standards, and institutional standards.
Student Support & Environment
- Create a supportive, inclusive learning environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and disciplinary engagement.
- Support students through office hours, academic advising, major selection guidance, and pastoral care.
Assessment
- Assess student understanding through various formative and summative assessment methods.
- Provide constructive feedback to help students develop disciplinary understanding and build confidence in the field.
Collaboration & Administration
- Collaborate with business program faculty to ensure alignment with degree program requirements and learning outcomes.
- Maintain detailed records of student progress and attendance.
- Participate in department meetings and professional development activities.
Required Qualifications:
Essential
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Business Management, or a closely related field from an accredited university.
- Minimum 2 years of professional teaching experience at the university level or equivalent professional practice in the discipline.
- Strong subject matter expertise in core business concepts and knowledge of current trends and developments in the discipline.
- Fluency in English (written and oral) to support teaching in an English-medium academic environment.
Preferred
- Experience teaching in international or English-medium academic programs.
- Professional experience in industry or practice within business.
- Familiarity with case-based learning, problem-based learning, or project-based learning pedagogies.
