Vital Study Skills is seeking a dedicated and talented Remote Java Developer to join our team on a Full-Time basis. As a key member of our technology team, you will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing the software platforms that deliver our vital educational services to students and institutions across the globe. This position is open to candidates residing in Canada, Mexico, or the United States.

Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance Java-based applications.
• Collaborate with product managers, instructional designers, and other stakeholders to translate requirements into well-engineered solutions.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from initial concept and design through to testing, deployment, and support.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices.
• Perform code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge within the team.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues in our production and non-production environments.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and technology stack.

Qualifications
• Proven professional experience in Java software development.
• Strong proficiency with the Java language and core libraries.
• Experience with common Java frameworks such as Spring or similar.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software design patterns.
• Experience working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and writing efficient SQL queries.
• Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• The ability to work independently and manage your time effectively in a remote setting.
• A genuine interest in education technology and our company's mission is highly desirable.
