Proofreader/Writer (Remote)
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Remote Proofreader/Writer to join our team. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals with strong writing, grammar, and editing skills who enjoy producing clear, accurate, and engaging content. In this role, you will proofread and edit documents, assist with content creation, ensure consistency in written materials, and support various business communications. The ideal candidate is highly organized, attentive to detail, and able to work independently in a remote environment. Comprehensive training is provided to set you up for success. All skill levels are welcomed.
Key Responsibilities
- Proofread and edit documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, formatting, and clarity.
- Review written content to ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to company style guidelines.
- Assist in creating and updating business documents, reports, emails, and other written materials.
- Perform fact-checking and verify information when required.
- Collaborate with team members to revise content based on feedback.
- Organize and maintain digital files and documentation.
- Meet deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality and accuracy.
- Follow company policies, editorial standards, and confidentiality requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
- Excellent written communication skills with strong grammar, spelling, punctuation, and proofreading abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing error-free work.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, and Excel) and Google Workspace.
- Ability to learn new software and content management systems quickly.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with remote team members.
- Positive attitude, professionalism, and a willingness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in proofreading, writing, editing, administrative support, data entry, or content review is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with style guides such as AP Style or the Chicago Manual of Style is a plus.
- Experience using Microsoft Word's editing tools, Google Docs, or document collaboration platforms is an asset.
- Basic knowledge of content management systems (CMS) or document management software is beneficial but not required.
